Remote work may have its challenges, but don’t let your employee engagement suffer as a result. Workers still want to be rewarded and recognized for their efforts and this is even more important during the coronavirus pandemic. Many employees have been tasked with more work in order to help pick up the slack, which means your rewards and recognition program is more important than ever before. In this panel session, experts will discuss their strategies for R&R in a remote working world, and more!
Speaker: Adele Abrams, President, Law Office of Adele L. Abrams PC

COVID-19 has ushered in a new era of remote work that many were unprepared for. In addition, workers are subject to mental health stress factors ranging from the loss of a loved one, worries over diminished income, to concern about their personal health and safety. Given the social distancing measures and quarantine orders, substance misuse is becoming more common among remote workers, and employees may also be at heightened risk for mental health emergencies and even suicide. This session will help HR professionals understand the warning signs of substance abuse and mental health issues, what appropriate actions they can take under the ADA and OSHA regulations to mitigate risk and help the employee who may be struggling with substance misuse or other issues while being quarantined, and how to address return-to-work issues including drug testing, PTSD claims, EAP utilization and suicide/workplace violence prevention.
