Welcome to the Leader as Coach video series!  

You should have received your hard copy of The Master Coach by Gregg Thompson at the conclusion of your  program. Should you need a copy, ABS has purchased extras that you may be able to request via the Talent Management team. 

As you read through The Master Coach, the videos below and their corresponding pdf reflection guides will provide you with suggested coaching practices and approaches to assist you in applying your coaching skills in your day-to-day conversations. You will be reminded of the coach’s philosophy to life, the hallmarks of a coaching conversation, the qualities of a great coach, and how leaders can make coaching everyone’s business. You will also have the opportunity to work to create commitments and actions to help you to continue to be more intentional about engaging in meaningful, coaching conversations.  

Ask yourself: Do my team members perform at a higher level because of me? Do they learn more and develop faster as a result of our conversations? 

To become an impactful coach requires mastery in three core dimensions:  

• You must earn the right to coach others – the decision is not yours alone. 

• You must form a connection with the person for the coaching process to take place.

• You will learn the basics of a coaching conversation, which progress from exploring aspirations to generating new possibilities to forging action plans.  

Becoming a great coach is a career long endeavor. It is a choice every morning to be coach-like in your conversations and to make coaching connections.  This series will help you gain confidence, inspiration, and strategies to continue to embed coaching into your team, setting the stage for new levels of success.
