Opening Keynote: The Current State of Facilities: What’s Changed Since March?

Speaker: Presented by: E.W. Dovel, VP, Public Sector, Orion Energy Systems, Inc.

Time: 12:30 PM EDT - 1:10 PM EDT

COVID-19 has changed almost everything in our society since March. However, change is something Facility Managers deal with every day, but now you are also an Emergency Response Manager. We adjust daily to humidity, temperature, and occupancy and other variables. Facility Managers are faced with unrealistic safety demands due to best-guesses rather than science. This opening session will discuss the challenges we have currently in our buildings and adaptive pathways we have taken since March.

Roundtable Discussions

Time: 1:15 - 2:15 PM EDT

We'll break into small groups for deep discussion with your peers on how you're handling current facilities challenges.

Workshop: Engaging Building Occupants to Maximize Energy/Water Savings

Speaker: Susan P. Carew, E.I., LEED AP

Director, Facility Engineering & Energy

Duval County Public Schools

Time: 2:20 - 3:00 PM EDT

This workshop will focus on detailing how facility and energy managers can use building occupants to change the culture and enhance conservation program results.

Closing Keynote: Preparing Your Facility for the Future: Staying Open and Staying Safe

Speaker: Presented by: E.W. Dovel, VP, Public Sector, Orion Energy Systems, Inc.

Time: 3:05 PM EDT - 3:45 PM EDT

This session will close the day by illustrating which systems require new focus, and other external influences that make current and future adaptations a tremendous challenge. Disease control and active shooter responses are now a part of our daily preparation. The uneducated public demands 100% safety as a standard and it is unobtainable. This session will provide some hopeful building systems, discuss the cost for implementation, and where to get the budget.
